MOTO MADNESS!!!

Harkening back to the early days of BMX when the tracks were rad before the parents go involved and ruined everything.

Downhill tracks like Soledad Sands, Yarnell and Randall Ranch were at the start of organized BMX riding and racing, this event is a homage to those early times.

The Bikes:

20" wheeled BMX bikes and early conversions are what the theme is. I'd like to say 1985 or older but I'm not a snob so I won't turn anyone away. I'd like to see some single pinch stems, banana seats, coaster brakes etc.

Don't bring your carpet queen to this event!  We'll be in the dirt. like it should be.

Do not use a Tuff Wheel one on this course, it will melt the mag wheel and you'll be trouble quick!

If you're using a coaster brake, be sure re-pack the hub with some high temp grease.

Put some good tires on there, not some rotten 40 year old snakebellies.

Good idea to have a spare tube, mini pump and tools incase you get a flat, it is along walk to the bottom!

The Course:

We'll be going down a fire road that is 98% downhill. You'll need some good bike handling chops and of course ride at your own comfort level. You can get going pretty fast on some sections so use your discretion there.

Helmet, gloves, long pants, and shirt are recommended. The course is something that is ridden all the time by bicyclists, it is only as dangerous as you choose to male it.

Not a race, a rally. A group ride. Keep that in mind.

There will be a map provided but there will be no sag wagon. The course is easy to follow so getting lost should not be a concern.

The Vibe:

Have fun!!

I'll have buttons made for riders that have things like Moto Mags, banana seats, single pinch stems, coaster brake bikes etc.

We'll have snacks and drinks at the bottom for a hang out. Should be done in time for nornal 4th of July hot dog time etc, something fun to do before you go to those normal holiday things if you do.

Event is 100% free.

Logistics:

We'll gather at the meet point then go to the staging area, where we'll need to consolidate bikes and riders into as few vehicles as possible. Then those vehicles will shuttle to the top, not far away. Once we're done we'll need someone to take the shuttle driver's back to the top for their vehicles.  It is a group effort and we'll have to wait for all the shuttle drivers to make it to the bottom, so budget your time appropriately.
